Meghalaya is a hilly state in northeastern India. The name means “the abode of clouds” in Sanskrit.
Meghalaya, the abode of clouds, is one of the most beautiful states in North-East India offering a variety of sights, activities, food and festivals to the tourists. Well known for Cherrapunjee, the place which receives one of the maximum rainfall in the world, Meghalaya can mesmerise you with its hills, valleys, lakes, caves and waterfalls which when combined with the beautiful clouds, give it a very serene, beautiful look. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya, and it’s the most urbanised area you will see in the entire state. Shillong has a lot of leftover British colonial influence that is evident from the plentiful British architecture. Owing to the magnificent lakes all around the town, and the hills surrounding it, Shillong has often been called the Scotland of the East. Cherrapunjee is famous for its rainfall, and it used to be the wettest place on Earth before the title was taken over by Mawsynram, which is less than 100 kilometres away from Cherrapunjee. The Living Double-decker Root Bridge is a famous attraction in Cherrapunjee, where trekking and hiking activities are offered for tourists.
After arriving at Guwahati Railway Station transfer to the Pre-Booked hotel & Overnight Stay.
Early Morning go to The Maa Kamakhya Temple later drive to Umananda Temple situated in Peacock Island. After lunch drive to the Scotland of East Shillong. En-route visit Umiam lake (Barapani lake) – largest man-made lake of North-East India. After arrive at Shillong Check in to the hotel. After refreshment visit Cathedral and Shillong local market. Overnight stay at hotel.
Morning after breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee – the wettest place in the world. At Cherrapunjee enjoy the numerous waterfalls like Nohkalikai falls, Mawsmai falls, Dainthlen Falls and Mawsmai cave. Evening drive back to Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong.
After breakfast visit the cleanest village in India. It is situated 30 kms. Besides the picturesque village, offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. It is along the Indo-Bangladesh border. This attractive and colorful little village is known for its cleanliness and one can enjoying boating in the river Umngot river. Evening we will return back to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.
After Breakfast checkout from hotel and go to the Laitlum Canyons. The Laitlum canyons are literally translated as ‘End of Hills’, or ‘Edge of the World’, it is fact that Laitlum nestled at great heights, and is surrounded by vast rocky hills and valleys. Later drive to Shillong peak and Elephant Falls. Evening come back to Guwahati and overnight stay.
After Breakfast checkout from hotel and go to Airport/Railway Station for onward journey.
